Making Our Voices Heard Where it Counts

On October 18, Center for Intercultural Organizing, in partnership with the Human Rights Council of Washington County, hosted a candidates forum at their Beaverton office. It was an opportunity for all the candidates for office in House Districts 29 and 30 to hear the concerns of people in those districts and talk about ways to address the challenges the changing demographics of Washington County are facing. Partners across the state, like Common Cause Oregon, Partnership for Safety and Justice, Causa and Economic Fairness Oregon--helped turn members out for the event. The forum was capped by special appearances by Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle and national Common Cause President Bob Edgar. The night was a testament to the grassroots power groups are building among comunities of color and immigrant communities.
